April

Ink streaks on my fingertips
I walk through old memories
Old thoughts
Old albums I’ve had on repeat and
old movies I’ve never seen before
I keep learning old habits die hard
(I keep forgetting)

I keep learning new ways to
break promises
New ways to waste time
New excuses
Old problems
Old habits die hard
(I keep forgetting)
And ink streaks on my fingertips
are the only evidence I’ve tried
to do anything

I’m just sitting in silence
Watching time slip away
I keep inventing
new ways to waste time
Still surprised that
old habits die hard
Still wondering why
(I keep forgetting)
